What documents do I need to apply to Deree, The American University of Greece U.L.E.?

In addition to a completed application form, which may be submitted online, applicants need to:

a. Meet the admission requirements set out in Law 5094/2024, pursuant to which the following individuals are eligible for enrollment in undergraduate academic programs:

  • Greek or foreign citizens who hold a General or Vocational High School diploma an average grade in the four (4) nationally examined subjects equal to or above the minimum admission threshold. This threshold is calculated as the lowest of the averages of all examinees' scores per scientific field, multiplied by the coefficient 0.8 for the year of participation.
  • Holders of equivalent secondary education diplomas issued by recognized foreign schools in Greece (Level 4 of the National Qualifications Framework).
  • Holders of international secondary education diplomas awarded by schools in Greece with an equivalent high school diploma or equivalent vocational education certificate that grants them access to higher education institutions. Especially for Greek or foreign citizens holding a General or Vocational High School diploma with an average grade in the four (4) nationally examined subjects equal to or exceeding the minimum admission threshold, who graduated prior to the academic year 2021-2022, as well as holders of undergraduate degrees, the admission terms and conditions are those applicable at the Mother Institution.

b. One letter of recommendation from a teacher/professor of the last institution attended; recommendation letters from private tutors are not accepted.

c. Official high school transcript(s) and diploma. The standard minimum average grade required for entry, is as follows:

  • Greek Apolyterion: A minimum grade of 12/20 (conditional acceptance, subject to applicant’s portfolio and interview) or 14/20 (unconditional acceptance), provided the Admissions Requirements of Law 5094/2024 are met. 
  • Applicants who have completed their secondary education in a school in Greece that does not award an Apolyterion must possess a secondary education completion Certificate from one of the schools that are officially recognized by the Greek Ministry of Education, with a minimum grade or equivalent to 12/20 (conditional acceptance, subject to applicant’s portfolio and interview) or 14/20 (unconditional acceptance).
  • US-style schools: An unweighted grade point average (GPA) of 2.75/4.0.
  • International Baccalaureate (IB): IB Diploma awarded with total score of 24 or above.
  • Equivalent grading systems: The corresponding equivalent grade; 

d. Acceptable evidence of proficiency in English:

  • Pearson Test of Academic English
  • Michigan State University Certificate of English Language Proficiency (MSU – CELP)
  • Michigan Proficiency Certificate
  • Cambridge Proficiency Certificate
  • Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) with Grade A only
  • TOEFL (score 87 or higher on internet-based test)
  • IELTS (score 6.5 or higher)
  • GCE
  • International Baccalaureate
  • Graduation from an accredited English language high school/institution
  • If none of the above is available, the candidate must take the English Placement Test administered by the Deree, The American University of Greece U.L.E .
  • e. Certified copy of your Greek state identity card or your passport

f. An interview with a designated Deree, The American University of Greece U.L.E. representative.

 

When can I take the English Placement Test (EPT)?

Placement tests are offered throughout the admissions period. You may find out details by contacting the Office of Admission and Enrollment at +30 210 600 9800, ext.1410. 

What is the content of the English Placement Test (EPT)?

It is a two-hour, multiple-choice computer-based test evaluating the student’s vocabulary, grammar and listening skills.

What are the deadlines for application?

Deree, The American University of Greece U.L.E follows a rolling admissions enrollment process and applications for admission are accepted throughout the year until the first day of classes. Recommended application deadlines are as follows:

  • Fall Semester: Third week of June
  • Spring Semester: First week of December
  • Summer Session I/ Summer Term: First week of April
  • Summer Session II: First week of May

Do I get a scholarship due to high academic achievement in high school?

Yes!  If your high school graduation grade is higher than 17/20, you are eligible for a tuition reduction between 15% and 35% through the Merit Scholarship Program.

If I am not eligible for a scholarship, can I receive financial aid?

Yes! Deree, The American University of Greece U.L.E.,  offers financial aid to students. 

How many years of study are required to get my Bachelor’s degree?

On average, students attending on full-time basis will need 4 years to graduate from Deree, The American University of Greece U.L.E. assuming they complete all their courses successfully.

What time are classes held?

Each student can arrange her/his own schedule according to the courses she/he needs to take and the hours these courses are offered. Courses are offered from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm.

How many hours do I have to attend per week?

Students may attend 1 to 5 courses per semester, which translates into 3 to 15 class hours per week.

Will I have difficulty adapting to the educational system?

The Deree, The American University of Greece U.L.E  has designed the academic program for first year students so as to allow them to adapt smoothly to Deree, The American University of Greece U.L.E ’s educational system. In addition, if a student feels that some extra support is needed, she/he can and should contact an academic advisor. Free peer tutoring is also available.

Who can I talk to about my academic program and progress?

All students are assigned an academic advisor who is responsible for assisting them in gaining the greatest benefit from their educational experience at Deree, The American University of Greece U.L.E . Students can contact the Academic Advising Office at +30 210 600 9800 ext. 1431.

Do you help graduates find a job?

The Office of Career Services & Alumni offers quality job placement programs and career events such as Career Days, as well as personalized assistance in researching the best graduate programs. 

What Deree, The American University of Greece U.L.E facilities may I use?

All students have free access to all of Deree, The American University of Greece U.L.E ’s facilities (track and field, Olympic-size swimming pool, library, computer labs, Office of Career Services & Alumni, etc.) as long as they carry a valid student ID card.

Will I have an e-mail account?

Yes. Each student is assigned an individual e-mail account as soon as she/he becomes a student of our Deree, The American University of Greece U.L.E.

What extra-curricular activities are available?

Clubs and societies are organizations formed by students with the purpose of enhancing their academic life, each with its own objectives and responsibilities.  Deree, The American University of Greece U.L.E  also offers an extensive athletic program and a variety of sports, designed to meet all the physical activity needs of Deree, The American University of Greece U.L.E  community. Extra-curricular activities constitute a significant and exciting part of student life, offering students the chance to socialize, apply what they have been taught in their courses, come in contact with people from the business world, and enrich their resumes with valuable qualifications.

Can I get a deferment for my military service?

Male students who are Greek nationals and are registered at Deree, The American University of Greece U.L.E. are eligible for deferment of their military service obligations.
